Samsung Washer dC code: Door or lid lock error
The washer cannot confirm that the door (or lid on top-loaders) is closed and locked, so it will not start or continue. On most current models dC means a door problem, but on some older models dC means an unbalanced load; your manual confirms which.
Most common causes
- Door or lid not fully closed, or clothing caught in the door
- Something blocking the latch or strike
- Worn or damaged door latch / lid lock
- Faulty door lock switch or its wiring
- Control board not reading the lock signal
What you can safely check yourself
- Open the door or lid, remove any clothing caught in the seal or latch area, and close it firmly until it clicks.
- Look at the latch hook and strike for anything stuck in them.
- Turn the washer off for 2 to 3 minutes, turn it back on and restart the cycle.
- If the door will not unlock, wait a few minutes and make sure there is no water left in the drum before trying again.
Unplug the appliance before moving or cleaning anything. Do not open panels, touch gas connections or bypass safety switches.
