LG Washer dE code: Door or lid lock error
On front-loaders, the door did not close or lock, so the washer will not start: dE1 generally means the door is open or unlatched, and dE2 means it is closed but will not lock. On LG top-loaders, dE means the lid is not fully closed.
Most common causes
- Clothing or the door gasket caught in the door
- Door or lid not pushed fully closed
- Dirt or debris in the latch area
- Worn door strike or failed door lock switch
What you can safely check yourself
- Open the door or lid, check for trapped clothing and close it firmly
- Wipe the latch and strike area clean
- Unplug the washer for 10 seconds, plug it back in and restart the cycle
Unplug the appliance before moving or cleaning anything. Do not open panels, touch gas connections or bypass safety switches.
