Samsung Dryer HE code: Heating error
The dryer detected a heating problem. Samsung's support page and newer manuals describe HC/hE as the dryer running too hot, usually from trapped heat; repair sources note the same code can appear when the heat system is not working right, so it can show up on dryers that run hot or dryers that stop heating.
Most common causes
- Clogged lint screen or exhaust vent trapping heat
- Crushed or kinked vent hose behind the dryer
- Tripped breaker or low voltage on electric models
- Failed temperature sensor (thermistor)
- Failed heating element or thermal safety fuse
What you can safely check yourself
- Clean the lint screen and check the screen housing for built-up lint.
- Pull the dryer out carefully and straighten any crushed or kinked vent hose.
- Check that the outdoor vent flap opens and air flows out strongly while the dryer runs.
- On electric dryers, check that neither half of the double breaker has tripped, then power the dryer off for a few minutes and restart.
Unplug the appliance before moving or cleaning anything. Do not open panels, touch gas connections or bypass safety switches.
