The fan that moves cold air in the fresh-food section is blocked or not working, often because of frost buildup.
Most common causes
- Frost or ice around the refrigerator fan
- Door not closing fully
- Defrost system fault
- Failed fan motor
What you can safely check yourself
- Empty the food and ice bin, unplug the refrigerator and leave the doors open for at least 8 hours with towels in place
- Dry the interior, plug back in and allow 24 to 48 hours to cool
- Make sure nothing is blocking the air vents inside
Unplug the appliance before moving or cleaning anything. Do not open panels, touch gas connections or bypass safety switches.
