The automatic defrost ran but the freezer coil did not warm up enough in the time allowed. Frost can keep building on the coil and cooling drops off.
Most common causes
- Failed defrost heater
- Blown thermal fuse in the defrost circuit
- Faulty defrost sensor
- Clogged defrost drain causing ice buildup
- Control board fault
What you can safely check yourself
- Unplug the refrigerator for a few minutes and plug it back in so it can try another defrost
- Check that the doors close and seal fully
Unplug the appliance before moving or cleaning anything. Do not open panels, touch gas connections or bypass safety switches.
