Whirlpool Washer uL code: Off-balance load
The load shifted to one side and the washer could not rebalance it on its own, so it slowed or stopped the spin. Front-loaders may show F0E5 and some top-loaders show OFb for the same problem.
Most common causes
- Single heavy item such as a rug, comforter or jacket
- Load bunched to one side or wet items added mid-cycle
- Overloaded drum
- Washer not level
- Worn suspension springs or dampers
What you can safely check yourself
- Wait for the lid or door to unlock, spread the clothes evenly and press Start.
- Balance a single bulky item with a few towels, or use the Bulky/Sheets cycle.
- Take a few items out if the drum is packed tightly.
- Check that the washer sits level and does not rock.
Unplug the appliance before moving or cleaning anything. Do not open panels, touch gas connections or bypass safety switches.
