Whirlpool Washer F8E1 code: Long fill / low water flow
The washer is not seeing water come in fast enough, or the water level is not rising as expected. Top-loaders often show LF, front-loaders F8E1 or Lo FL, and some older front-loaders F20.
Most common causes
- Hot or cold water valve turned off or only partly open
- Kinked inlet hoses or clogged inlet screens
- Drain hose too far down the standpipe, so water siphons out while filling
- Low household water pressure
- Faulty water inlet valve or pressure sensor
What you can safely check yourself
- Open both the hot and cold water valves fully; these washers expect water on both hoses.
- Check both inlet hoses for kinks and make sure red goes to hot and blue to cold.
- Turn the water off, remove the hoses and rinse any debris from the inlet screens.
- Make sure the drain hose is not pushed more than about 4.5 inches into the standpipe.
- Unplug the washer for 5 minutes, plug it back in and start a new cycle to see if the code clears.
Unplug the appliance before moving or cleaning anything. Do not open panels, touch gas connections or bypass safety switches.
