| 5E | Fridge defrost sensor error The sensor that watches the fresh-food evaporator during defrost is giving a bad reading. Frost can build up and cooling can suffer. |
| 21E | Freezer fan error The freezer's evaporator fan is not turning as the control expects. The freezer and fridge may not stay cold enough. |
| 22E 22C | Fridge fan error The fan that circulates cold air in the fresh-food section is not turning as expected. This is often caused by ice around the fan after a door was left open. |
| 33E | Ice pipe heater error The small heater that keeps the ice maker's water fill tube from freezing is not working. The fill tube can freeze and the ice maker may stop making ice. |
| 39E 39C | Ice maker function error The ice maker could not complete its normal cycle, often because ice is jammed or water is not reaching it. |
| 40E 40C | Ice room fan error The fan that blows cold air into the ice maker compartment (in the fridge door on many French-door models) is not working correctly. Ice production may slow or stop. |
| 88 88 | Communication fault The display and the main control board lost communication, which can happen when power is interrupted during start-up. |
| OF OF O FF, OFF OFF | Cooling Off (demo) mode The refrigerator is in Cooling Off, or showroom demo, mode. The lights and display work but it does not cool. This is a setting, not a failure. |
| PC ER PC CH | Communication error The display panel is not communicating with the main control board. Cooling may still work, but the display cannot show or change settings. |
| 8E | Ice maker sensor error The temperature sensor in the freezer ice maker is giving a bad reading, so the ice maker may not know when to harvest ice. |
| 83E | Compressor abnormal current The control detected unusual electrical current to the compressor. It can follow a power surge, or point to a compressor or inverter board problem. |
| 84C | Compressor lock The compressor tried to start but did not turn (a locked-rotor condition). The refrigerator will not cool properly until this is fixed. |
| 85E | Compressor under-voltage The compressor is receiving voltage that is too low, often during a brownout or when sharing a circuit. (86E is the matching over-voltage code.) |
