KitchenAid Dishwasher F6E4 code: Float switch / overfill problem
The control sees a problem with the water float switch that guards against overfilling. A dishwasher that is not level can tip the float and trigger this code.
Most common causes
- Dishwasher not level
- Float stuck by debris or an object under it
- Water inlet valve not shutting off fully
- Failed float switch
What you can safely check yourself
- Reset the control: unplug the dishwasher (or switch off its breaker if it is hard-wired) for 30 seconds, then restore power.
- Check the dishwasher is level side to side and front to back.
- Make sure the float cup inside the tub moves freely and nothing is under it.
Unplug the appliance before moving or cleaning anything. Do not open panels, touch gas connections or bypass safety switches.
