GE Dishwasher C4 code: Float switch stuck
After a power interruption, the machine filled twice in a row, which tells the control that the float switch may be stuck or failed. The float is a safety part that stops the fill if the water gets too high.
Most common causes
- Float stuck up by food debris or grease
- Failed float switch
- Debris in the sump around the float
What you can safely check yourself
- Find the float, a small dome or cylinder at the front corner of the tub floor, and tap it gently so it moves freely.
- Clean food debris out of the sump and away from the float.
- Reset the cycle and run it again.
Unplug the appliance before moving or cleaning anything. Do not open panels, touch gas connections or bypass safety switches.
