Whirlpool Dishwasher F8E4 code: Water in the base (leak detected)
A float switch in the drip tray under the tub detected water where it should not be. The dishwasher starts draining and will not run until the code is cleared.
Most common causes
- Loose water supply fitting under the dishwasher
- Excess suds overflowing from using dish soap
- Leak from a door seal, hose or pump
- Float switch unplugged or damaged
What you can safely check yourself
- Press Cancel once to silence the alarm and again to clear the code.
- Use only automatic dishwasher detergent.
- Look under the dishwasher for water and make sure the supply connection is snug (turn water off first).
Unplug the appliance before moving or cleaning anything. Do not open panels, touch gas connections or bypass safety switches.
