Whirlpool Dishwasher Clean light blinking code: Flashing light error code
On models without a text display, the dishwasher reports an error by blinking the Clean light in a pattern. Count the first group of flashes (the F number), then the second group after a short pause (the E number); for example 9 flashes, pause, 1 flash means F9E1.
Most common causes
- Any stored fault, most often a drain (F9E1), water (F8E1/H2O) or leak (F8E4) problem
- Control module error
- Door opened or power interrupted mid-cycle
What you can safely check yourself
- Count the flash pattern a few times to get the F and E numbers, then look up that code.
- Reset the control: unplug the dishwasher (or switch off its breaker if it is hard-wired) for 30 seconds, then restore power.
- Check the filter, drain hose and water supply, the most common causes.
Unplug the appliance before moving or cleaning anything. Do not open panels, touch gas connections or bypass safety switches.
