Whirlpool Dryer F3E1 code: Exhaust temperature sensor problem
The dryer's exhaust thermistor, the sensor that reads air temperature leaving the drum, is giving a reading the control cannot use. Without it the dryer cannot regulate heat, so it stops the cycle.
Most common causes
- Failed exhaust thermistor
- Loose or damaged thermistor wiring
- Heavily restricted vent causing abnormal temperatures
- Control board fault
What you can safely check yourself
- Switch off the dryer's circuit breaker(s) for a minute (5 minutes for control codes), switch back on and try a timed dry cycle.
- Clean the lint screen and check the vent for blockages.
Unplug the appliance before moving or cleaning anything. Do not open panels, touch gas connections or bypass safety switches.
