Maytag Washer error codes

The washer tried to lock the door (front-load) or lid (top-load) before starting and could not confirm it was locked. The cycle will not run until the lock engages. On top-loaders the same problem can also show as LdL.

On top-load washers, the machine tried to unlock the lid at the end of a cycle or a pause and could not confirm it opened. The lid stays locked for safety until the control sees the lock release.

The washer cannot reach or read the drum speed it expects. On front-loaders it means the motor cannot hit the right speed for the cycle; on top-loaders it means the control cannot read basket speed or sees it change too quickly.

The washer ran its drain pump but the water level did not drop in the expected time (about 8-10 minutes). Top-loaders may show this as Ld or drn, and older front-loaders as F21; they all point to a drain problem.

The washer is not seeing water come in fast enough, or the water level is not rising as expected. Top-loaders often show LF, front-loaders F8E1 or Lo FL, and some older front-loaders F20.

The washer detected so much foam that it cannot spin or rinse properly. It will pause and add extra rinses to clear the suds, which makes the cycle run longer.

On top-load washers, the control cannot confirm the position of the shifter, the part that switches the drive between agitating and spinning. The washer usually stops mid-cycle, often with water still in the tub.

The load shifted to one side and the washer could not rebalance it on its own, so it slowed or stopped the spin. Front-loaders may show F0E5 and some top-loaders show OFb for the same problem.
