KitchenAid Oven / Range F5 code: Oven door latch fault
The control is getting mismatched signals from the door latch or door switches, often around a self-clean cycle. The oven may refuse to bake or clean, and the door may stay locked.
Most common causes
- Door latch stuck or failed
- Door switch out of adjustment or failed
- Loose or heat-damaged latch wiring
- Oven control fault
What you can safely check yourself
- Switch off the range's circuit breaker(s) for one minute, switch them back on and watch the display for a minute to see if the code returns.
- Make sure nothing is blocking the door from closing fully and the door sits square.
Unplug the appliance before moving or cleaning anything. Do not open panels, touch gas connections or bypass safety switches.
