GE Dryer Check Vent code: Blocked vent alert
The dryer's sensor found that too little air is leaving the dryer, which usually means the exhaust vent is restricted. Low airflow makes drying take longer and lets lint build up, which is a fire risk.
Most common causes
- Lint buildup inside the vent duct
- Crushed or kinked duct behind the dryer
- Stuck damper, lint or a bird nest at the outside wall cap
- Duct run that is too long or has too many bends
What you can safely check yourself
- Clean the lint filter.
- Unplug the dryer, disconnect the duct from the back and vacuum it out with a dryer vent brush.
- Go outside and check that the vent flap opens freely and nothing is blocking it.
- Make sure the duct isn't crushed when you push the dryer back.
Unplug the appliance before moving or cleaning anything. Do not open panels, touch gas connections or bypass safety switches.
